DNS KNOWLEDGE

What does your DNS configuration tell you?

DNS records control how your domain connects to websites, email services, verification systems, and other internet infrastructure.

01

A / AAAA

Connect your domain to IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. These records are commonly used to route visitors to your web server.

02

MX

Determines which mail servers receive email for your domain. Incorrect MX configuration can prevent email delivery.

03

CNAME

Creates an alias pointing one hostname to another canonical hostname.

04

TXT

Stores text-based DNS information used for verification, SPF, domain ownership and other services.

05

NS

Identifies the authoritative nameservers responsible for answering DNS queries for your domain.

06

SOA

Contains administrative information about the DNS zone, including serial number and timing parameters.

HELP CENTER

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this tool store my domain?

This front-end tool does not intentionally store lookup results. DNS queries are sent to the configured DNS-over-HTTPS provider.

What DNS records are checked?

The checker queries NS, A, AAAA, MX, TXT, CNAME, SOA and CAA records.

Why can DNS changes take time?

Recursive DNS resolvers cache records according to their TTL. A recently changed record may therefore not appear everywhere immediately.

Can this tool detect DKIM?

DKIM records normally live under selector-specific hostnames, such as selector._domainkey.example.com. Because selectors vary between providers, a selector is needed for a definitive DKIM lookup.
